തൃശൂർ ജില്ലയിലെ വടക്കാഞ്ചേരിയിൽ നിന്നും 9 കി.മി മാത്രം അകലെ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന നയന മനോഹരമായ ഭൂപ്രദേശമാണ് വാഴാനി . ഇവിടെ വടക്കാഞ്ചേരിപ്പുഴ അഥവാ കേച്ചേരിപ്പുഴക്ക് കുറുകെ നിർമ്മിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന മൺ നിർമ്മിതിതമായ അണക്കെട്ടുകളിൽ ഒന്നാണ് വാഴാനി അണക്കെട്ട് .92.48 മീറ്റർ ആണ്. റിസർവോയറിനു് ഏകദേശം 255 ഹെക്റ്റർ വിസ്തീർണ്ണമുണ്ട്. ഈ പദ്ധതിയുടെ പണി തീർന്നത് 1962 ലാണ്. തൃശ്ശൂർ ജില്ലയിലെ വിനോദസഞ്ചാര ആകർഷണങ്ങളിൽ പ്രധാനമാണ് ഈ അണക്കെട്ട്. വാഴാനി ജലസേചനപദ്ധതിയുടെ ഭാഗമായാണ് ഇത് നിർമിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളത് അണക്കെട്ടിൽ നിന്നുള്ള വെള്ളം പ്രധാനമായും നെൽകൃഷിക്കും, കുടിവെള്ളാവശ്യത്തിനുമായി ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു. ഡാമിനോട് ചേർന്ന് അതിമനോഹരമായ ഒരു ഉദ്യാനം ഉണ്ട്. ക
ഈ ഡാമിന് ചുറ്റുമുള്ള മേഖല പീച്ചി – വാഴാനി വന്യജീവിസംരക്ഷണകേന്ദ്രം എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്നു.
