Punnathurkotta Elephant Sanctuary,is a unique elephant camp located about 3 km from the famous Guruvayoor Temple in Thrissur, Kerala.
It is home to the temple elephants of the Guruvayur Devaswom. These elephants are donated by devotees and are used for temple rituals and festivals, most notably the Thrissur Pooram. Punnathurkotta is not just a stable but a sanctuary where visitors can observe the elephants in a relatively natural setting. The elephants undergo training and traditional Ayurvedic treatments here. It is one of the largest elephant camps in the world.
